In late 2023 we announced a one week Artist Residency for 2024. The week long stay was open to artists of all disciplines and genres. Throughout the month of January we received over 250 submissions.
Feeling a little overwhelmed and somewhat out of our depth we called on the lovely team at Galah Press to come on board and help select a successful applicant.
The choice was unanimous—We are thrilled to welcome Ella Dunn to Mill Cabin in September this year.
We fell in love with Ella's work for its narrative references and earthy palette that is rich in harmony. There is a depth and feeling that has drawn us in and left us feeling so excited to see more.
Thanks so much Ella for being our first Artist in Residence.
Dunn’s art practice focuses on figurative, narrative based works. She uses paint to explore her immediate surroundings and delve into the intimacy of domestic scenes and personal experiences. She investigates connections to place, memory and relationships exploring the relationship between fictional and personal narratives and how they can be skewed or exaggerated.
