360º of privacy and only a short car drive to Jindabyne and the surrounding resorts and eateries. Spoilt for choice with numerous cycling and hiking trails, as well as various swimming spots on the Thredbo river and Lake Jindabyne.
WHITE'S RIVER HUT—SCHLINKS PASS TRAIL
Explore this 16km out-and-back trail, leaving from Guthega Power station. Start the walk by heading across the bridge and around the back of the power station—follow Schlink Pass road. The first couple of kilometres is up hill and the toughest part of the walk.You can take a couple of short detours to Schlink Hut and Horse Camp Hut. After returning back to the main trail to continue on to Whites River Hut around 8km from the start of the walk.
ILLAWONG WALK
Leaves from Guthega Village and is one of our favourites. It is a 35 minute car drive from Mill Cabin to Guthega Village. The trail follows along Snowy River Valley through alpine heath and towering, majestic snow gums, all the way up to Illawong Hut, one of the oldest buildings still standing in the park. Following the trail for 100m beyond the hut you’ll come to the swing bridge. You have to cross over one at a time—It’s well worth a look. On the other side of the bridge you can access the river and deep your feet in, have a rest or picnic. Make sure you take in the stunning views on the bridge of the boulder strewn Snowy River. This is an out and back, turning around at the swing bridge. Total 6.4km
THREDBO RIVER TRACK
Starting from Thredbo Village—23 minute car drive from Mill Cabin. You access this walk at the far end of the village near the golf course. The walk winds its way along the Thredbo River and will come out at the Alpine way just near Dead Horse Gap. You will stroll through some lovely snow gum forests and enjoy views down to the river from the cascades lookout and various bridges. An enjoyable way to explore the Thredbo River and the valley environments. It’s a 4.8km one way walk so if you want to go all the way to Dead Horse and back it will be a total of 9.6km.
PORCUPINE ROCKS
Leaves from Perisher Valley Reservoir which is a 32 minute car drive from Mill Cabin. Drive to Perisher and turn left on to Porcupine Road and then turn right on to Water Supply Storage Road and park by the side of the road. Trail starts here.
It’s a spectacular walk through wildflowers, native shrubs and tussock fields. It slowly climbs to Porcupine Rocks where you will get breathtaking views of the Thredbo Valley and Main Range.

SAWPIT CREEK
There are several walks that leave from Sawpit Creek which is a 18 minute car drive from Mill Cabin. Turn left into Kosciuszko Tourist Park. From here there are several walking options; Waterfall walking track (6km), Pallaibo track (11.2km) and Sawpit track (2.6k). All walks are through bushy alpine scrub and well worth a visit.
